Nurturing Young Minds through Movement and Mindfulness.

At Bala Bends, our mission is to encourage children to step away from their devices and reconnect with themselves through movement, music, and mindfulness. To make our programs easily accessible for families, we travel directly to you, teaching at libraries, preschools, yoga studios, and other local venues. Our diverse classes cater to all ages—from babies and toddlers to preschoolers and older kids—ensuring an engaging experience for everyone.

Who We Are

Meet Krissy, the passionate founder of Bala Bends, a children’s yoga and mindfulness program designed for all abilities. With my background as a Special Education teacher in Boston Public Schools, I saw firsthand how yoga improved my students' focus, body awareness, and self-regulation.

These results inspired me to create Bala Bends, which integrates Social Emotional Learning (SEL), storytelling, and mindfulness to provide a holistic approach to children’s fitness. My goal is to help children embrace movement, develop a growth mindset, and enhance their social-emotional skills in a fun and inclusive environment.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Northeastern University and a Master’s degree in Special Education from Endicott College.

In addition to my academic background, I have completed the following certifications to support my work with children:

  • Kids Yoga Training (Pretzel Kids Yoga)

  • Youth Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher (Yoga Ed)

  • Baby Yoga & Development (Karma Kids)
